Criteria for the selection of wheels and castors

The flexibility and versatility of pallet trucks often open up a multitude of possible uses. This often goes hand in hand with certain requirements which the pallet truck must meet in daily use. These prerequisites often also have an effect on the tires on pallet trucks, which is why various criteria have to be taken into account when selecting the suitable fork rollers and steering wheels:

• Surface quality
  Is the pallet truckmainly used on smooth or rough surfaces or used on level or uneven ground?
  
• Rolling resistance
  Is rolling resistance to be expected due to the surface conditions?
  How does the rolling behavior differ depending on the material of the wheels or rollers?
  
• Operating times and downimes
  Is the pallet truck used continuously in multi-shift operation, or is it subject to a tendency to low to moderate use with assume longer downtimes?
  
• Place of use or local conditions
  Are special hygiene or safety regulations (e.g. in the food or chemical industry) to be observed?
  Is the pallet truck used more in closed rooms or is it preferably used outdoors (external influences such as rain)?
  Must be a low noise level taken into account in the logistical activities (e.g. night shift in the vicinity of residential areas)?

Structure of the tires - steering wheels and fork rollers

In the basic composition of the tires, almost all types of pallet trucks are always based on the same principle. While steering wheels or rollers at the central steering point are heavily used during driving - especially when shunting or maneuvering - the fork rollers play a "supporting role" in the truest sense of the word. They guarantee safe driving stability especially when pulling the pallet truck over longer distances and must always withstand the loads that occur. There are two types of fork rollers:
